Person in charge of protecting your personal information

Windows Montreal is responsible for the personal information collected through this site. As Quebec's Law 25 requires, we have designated a person in charge of the protection of personal information (responsable de la protection des renseignements personnels):

We apply Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25, and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies.

Information collected and purposes

When you request a quote or write to us, we collect:

• your name, phone number and email, so the pro and we can reach you;
• your borough or municipality and the job address, to find a pro who covers it;
• your description of the job (building type, floor, access, deadline, whether you rent, own or manage), which helps the pro prepare a soumission and decides no one's legal responsibility;
• photos or files you choose to add;
• your preferred language and contact method, and your consent choices with their date.

We use it only to handle your request, follow up if it goes quiet, answer questions and record your consent. Personal information is never sold.

Communication to contractors and outside Quebec

The contractor we match you with. An independent window, door or glass business serving Montreal, Laval or the North or South Shore receives what it needs to contact you and quote, and is then responsible for it under its own obligations. If it can't take the job, another pro in the same trade may. Ask us which business has your request.

Service providers. Hosting, form, email, text-message and analytics tools process information for us under written contracts.

Outside Quebec. Some of these providers, and parts of our own operations, may store or process information outside Quebec, in other provinces or in the United States, where local authorities may be able to access it. Before any personal information is communicated outside Quebec, we carry out the privacy impact assessment Law 25 requires, and go ahead only where the information will be adequately protected.

Where the law requires it. We may disclose information when a law obliges us to.

Cookies and profiling technologies

Some tools can identify, locate or profile a visitor, such as analytics, advertising pixels and call tracking. On this site they stay off until you accept them in the cookie banner. Cookies needed to run the forms and remember your choice stay on. To change your mind, clear this site's cookies in your browser and the banner will ask again.

Messages and phone calls

Messages from us and the pro stay about your request; tips and offers go only to people who tick the separate marketing box. Under Canada's anti-spam law, every commercial email or text names the sender and offers a way to unsubscribe (CRTC guidance). If you ask a pro to stop calling, they must add you to their internal do-not-call list within the period the federal rules set; tell us too and we'll pass it on.

Retention and security

We keep a request only as long as its purposes require, then destroy or anonymize it. Access is limited to people who need it. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information, and we record every incident in a register.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• show you the personal information we hold and tell you who received it;
• correct anything inaccurate or incomplete;
• withdraw your consent, or delete information no longer needed;
• stop disseminating it, or de-index it, where the law allows;
• give it to you, or to another organization, in a commonly used technological format.

Write to the Privacy Officer through the contact page; we answer within the time the law sets and may ask you to confirm your identity. Withdrawing consent doesn't recall a request a pro already holds, so we'll tell you which business has it. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Language and changes
