Nature of the service: a referral

Windows Montreal puts people who need window, door or glass work in touch with independent contractors. You describe the job; we pass it to a contractor who does that kind of work and covers your address, and we follow up if the request goes quiet. The service costs you nothing. Contractors may pay us for referrals, which doesn't make us a party to anything you agree with them.

We aren't a contractor. We don't measure, quote, sell, supply, install or repair anything, nobody from Windows Montreal comes to your home, and we can't promise that a contractor will be available, or by when.

The work is the chosen contractor's responsibility

• Each contractor is an independent business, not our employee, agent or partner.
• The soumission, price, scope and schedule come from the contractor, and any contract is between you and them.
• The contractor answers for the work, the materials, safety on site, cleanup, insurance and any permit your borough or municipality requires.
• In Quebec, window and door contractors need a licence from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec and must display its number. Check it, and get the quote in writing, before you sign.

Who warranties the work

We give no warranty on any contractor's work or on any product. A warranty, if there is one, comes from the contractor or the manufacturer. Ask what it covers, for how long and who answers the call, and keep the paperwork. If a warranty request is ignored, tell us: we can't enforce it, but we'll raise it with the contractor.

Contracts signed at home

When a window or door contract is concluded at your home, Quebec treats it as itinerant commerce, even if you called the contractor first. The contract must be on paper and in French, and you may cancel it within ten days of receiving your copy. During that period, work can start only for certain urgent repairs. Using the site

Give accurate information, and send requests only for property you own, rent, manage or are authorized to arrange work on. Don't upload unlawful content or anyone else's personal information. We may decline or remove requests that misuse the service.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Windows Montreal is not liable for any contractor's work, products, prices, delays or conduct, or for loss arising from your dealings with a contractor. The site is provided as is. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under Quebec law.

Language, governing law and changes

These terms are offered in French first, as Quebec's Charter of the French Language requires, and the French version governs. They are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. We may update them; the version posted here, with its date, applies.
